Topic Reader

Google Reader

It is a web based aggregator, which is capable of reading atoms and RSS feeds online and offline. Google labs released this application in October 2005. It was designed as a way for the public to be able to enjoy reading news and sharing it with others. Originally an item to be shared with others was done by a process of sending a link through email, which would direct the user to the shared article. In December 2007 there was a change to the sharing policy, which allowed items that were marked shared to be visible to Google talk contracts. Many users didn’t like this new procedure due to there being no way to “opt out”. Up to 2000 items can be downloaded to be read off line and after coming back online, the feeds are updated by Google reader. This feature was discontinued after June 2010. Google Reader can be used by any device that supports XHTML or Web WAP 2.0 and as well as IPhones.
