Reader vs Other RSS Readers
Reader vs Other RSS readers
Even though Reader is a good source of attaining news updates to your favorite websites, Facebook has even more people reading it’s news than Reader. Facebook is the most popular subscription-enabled place for people to read the news. The links are shared by friends so information or news can be easily, and more quickly accessible. The feeds inside of Reader deliver the whole story, but Facebook requires readers or individuals to click all the way through to the source site. Reader, Facebook and other RSS readers have affected and changed our lives in the way that we obtain our news. Search engines and portals allow individuals to decide which news sites they would like to receive news from—either Google, Yahoo, MSN or Facebook. It all depends on what a person’s interest may be in choosing the search engine that they prefer. An individual may want to receive an article or a snippet of news. For a snippet of news a person may choose Facebook, for an article or favorite websites, a person may choose Reader.

Integration of Reader with Facebook
There is a way to integrate Google Reader into your Facebook Account. Google shared items can be applied directly onto your Facebook Profile, in which others can see and read them as well. A Google Reader ID is required to pull all of your feeds or items into your personal Facebook account. When the Google reader account is set up, then you can customize the feeds that you’d like to present or share with your friends or coworkers. The items are broken down into three categories of Top shared items, friend’s shared items and your shared items. When you pull your feeds into Facebook it allows you to choose which category you would like to apply or feed into your account. Top items may update several times a day or every 12-24 hours and it also shows how many times the items were shared. All in all it helps you to keep up with the latest or most current piece of information/news.
Topic Reader
Google Reader
It is a web based aggregator, which is capable of reading atoms and RSS feeds online and offline. Google labs released this application in October 2005. It was designed as a way for the public to be able to enjoy reading news and sharing it with others. Originally an item to be shared with others was done by a process of sending a link through email, which would direct the user to the shared article. In December 2007 there was a change to the sharing policy, which allowed items that were marked shared to be visible to Google talk contracts. Many users didn’t like this new procedure due to there being no way to “opt out”. Up to 2000 items can be downloaded to be read off line and after coming back online, the feeds are updated by Google reader. This feature was discontinued after June 2010. Google Reader can be used by any device that supports XHTML or Web WAP 2.0 and as well as IPhones.
